Abstract
Experimental study using 36 rats was operformed to survey whether vein interposition was able to serve as a conduit for nerve regeneration and to compare this result with those of the nerve graft.

Gross and histologic examination revealed orderly growth of nerve fibers through tlhe vein graft in case of 5mm nerve gap up to 1 month, and in case of 10mm gap up to 2 month, and nearly 15mm gap up to 3 months following experiment.

The regenerating axon grew up along the internal surface of the vein graft and any distinct intraneural as well as extraneural fibrosis was not observed.

In conclusion, nerve repair using vein graft could be employed in the clinical field if the result of the functional study including E.M.G. shows effectiveness.
